Wearable Art Show 2012

According to all of my stats, capsule wardrobes are everyone's favorite thing on this blog so I thought I'd compile mine all onto one page for you!
I had a summer one, but being canadian I felt like it might not contain the best advice. So instead I threw in a winter outfit.
Intermediate Fiber Fabric Fashion: Needlefelting and Crochet
This is another project for Fiber Fabric Fashion, it involved a felted sweater (aka wash it in hot water and put it in the dryer until it shrinks) and then needle felting into it and crochet. This project was a struggle for me to combine the felting and crochet in a way that made sense, I ended up ripping and cutting up half of what i did the night before out of frustration and it ended up somewhat backless....
I'm not satisfied with it, i should have done two different pieces, one for crochet, one for felting.

Textiles for the Market Place
So, textiles for the marketplace teaches you how to make textiles and money at the same time.
our first semester project was to make products for a Gaelic historic village in Cape Breton for them to hypothetically sell at their gift shop.
I decided to naturally dye and spin yarn for sale, and here it is.
50g skeins, all hand spun and dyed with plant dyes. The furthest right was dyed with blueberries, furthest right with onion skins, and the center is them both plied together.
i am a spinning wheel addict so i am spinning MORE wool for my next project!

FFF Knitting
THE SECOND PROJECT: KNITTING
We were taught the basic stitches of knitting: Knit, Purl, Stitch Increase and Stitch Decrease and told to play and make something for the body. I realized b accident that if you increase several stitches beside eachother you get holes.... and went with that. all of the holes in this piece are permanent and won't continue to unravel it. There was also a twist in the tube when i knit it, so i knit in between it to make it a permanent part in the piece.

So, the Fiber Fabric Fashion classes are among my favorite. They are a breath of fresh air because they require thinking instead of technique and are basically awesome to do. Here are the first two projects:
FIRST PROJECT: KNIT ON THE BODY
This project involved partner work, and this is Cheryl Ozon with me (she is on the left). We had cotton knit, and traced around eachother making a body sock, and then used all of the leftover fabric to decorate. We were told to play with body proportions, so we only have one sack for both legs and we are attached by the back. Cheryl made the half i am wearing and i made the half she is wearing.

Weaving Final
Hello friends,
I am posting about my weaving final now because they were christmas presents for friends and family!!!
My project was using the same warp (the strings going in one direction) and making the 4 scarves as different as I could using the same colour. The original warp was for my family's scottish tartan, and I wove the tartan scarf and then three others.
Here are photos! I forgot close up photos of one of them, but there is a picture of it in the photo of them all together. The one that is missing is the upper right scarf below, it's oven with grey and textured stripes. I'll add it in when I see my friend who it was given to.
The pink scarf is also reversable. the arrow stripes on the back are the colour of the warp, instead of pink.
